Laurie Lofman Bellmore
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a Maine native who has lived in the mid-coast
Rockland area all my life. Of Finnish decent, I am related to, and
inspired by, the late photographer Kosti Ruohomaa. The subjects of both
my paintings and photography consist of the breathtaking backdrops of
mid-coast Maine, including ocean and natural scenery, flowers,
farmhouses, fishing boats, and lighthouses. The summer people and
tourists seem to adore my work as a memory of their time in our state!
I have been involved with artworks of painting and
photography all of my life, experimenting with many different avenues of
artistic expression. Views of my work can range from realistic to
still-lives to abstract in all of my chosen mediums. I have been
commissioned to do many pieces including business photography,
portraits, and custom murals. I have sold many original paintings and
prints, and also created a line of Maine notecards and calendars. Among
my philanthropic ventures was the creation of a print to help support
breast cancer groups and local charities.

MY WORK
Currently my mediums include photography, painting
and polymer clay.
1. Traditional and Digital Photography. I have
been photographing Maine's local scenes for several years now using
various 35 mm and digital cameras. I sell them as open & limited edition
prints of various sizes, with archival acid- free quality papers,
canvas, and inks.
2. Traditional watercolor paintings. Painting,
which was my first art love, has been a lifelong endeavor. I sell
original paintings, as well as open & limited edition prints of various
sizes, with archival acid-free quality papers, canvas and inks.
3. Polymer Clay Artworks. Recently I have been
creating handmade art and beads using polymer clay, that I form and cook
myself. Included in my work are found and made objects, which I sculpt
into mixed media wall art and clay jewelry.
All of my work is created on my own from beginning to end. I do all
the photography, digital enhancement, printing, cutting, matting, and
framing in my digital darkroom and studio--with only my hand touching
the work!
I enjoy meeting my customers and retail most of my works at local art
shows and galleries.
